- How do I book an appointment with Ear Today?
- Please phone Lynn on 07899 872413 to book. Phone is the preferred way to arrange a home visit. You can email with questions, but appointments are confirmed by phone.
- What areas do you cover for home visits?
- Home visits are offered within 7 miles of Blythe Bridge, Staffordshire, with no call-out fee in that zone. Areas further afield may be possible with a £10 call-out fee, waived when three or more people book together.
- How much does ear wax removal cost?
- A visit-only fee of £30 applies if no wax removal is needed. Water irrigation or microsuction is a flat £60 fee covering inspection and wax removal. Travel beyond 7 miles may incur a £10 call-out charge.
- What is the difference between water irrigation and microsuction?
- Water irrigation uses gentle warm water to flush wax from the ear canal. Microsuction uses a low-pressure suction device without water. The appropriate method depends on what is found during inspection.
- Who performs the wax removal?
- Wax removal is provided by Lynn Meredith, an Ear Care Practitioner. Ear Today is a non-medical, private service — we inspect the ear canal for wax blockages and remove occluding wax only. We do not diagnose ear conditions.
- Do you treat children?
- No. Wax removal is available to adults aged 18 and over only.
- When would you not be able to remove wax?
- We will refuse treatment and advise GP or ENT referral if red-flag symptoms are present — for example pain, fluid discharge, sudden hearing loss, past ear surgery, grommets, or a foreign body in the ear. See our safety page for the full list.
- How should I prepare before my appointment?
- Use olive oil or a recommended ear wax softener as advised when you book. Avoid cotton buds. Tell us about any medications, especially blood thinners, when you book.
