Questions and answers

How do I book an appointment with Ear Today?
Please phone Lynn on 07899 872413 to book. Phone is the preferred way to arrange a home visit. You can email with questions, but appointments are confirmed by phone.
What areas do you cover for home visits?
Home visits are offered within 7 miles of Blythe Bridge, Staffordshire, with no call-out fee in that zone. Areas further afield may be possible with a £10 call-out fee, waived when three or more people book together.
How much does ear wax removal cost?
A consultation-only visit is £30 if no wax removal is needed. Ear irrigation or microsuction is a flat £60 fee covering assessment and treatment. Travel beyond 7 miles may incur a £10 call-out charge.
What is the difference between ear irrigation and microsuction?
Ear irrigation uses gentle warm water to flush wax. Microsuction uses a medical suction device without water and is often preferred for sensitive ears or where the eardrum has been perforated in the past (subject to clinical assessment).
Who performs the treatment?
All care is provided by Lynn Meredith, a Retired Registered Nurse Practitioner with over 40 years of healthcare experience, in the comfort of your own home.
Do you treat children?
No. Treatments are available to adults aged 18 and over only.
When would you not be able to treat my ears?
Some conditions require GP or ENT referral rather than home treatment — for example active infection, perforated eardrum, recent ear surgery, grommets, sudden hearing loss, or a foreign body in the ear. See our safety page for full details.
How should I prepare before my appointment?
Use olive oil or a recommended ear wax softener as advised when you book. Avoid cotton buds. Have a list of any medications, especially blood thinners, ready to discuss at your assessment.
